Toyota Cup Players Attain Referee Ticket

19/12/2007

Last Saturday, 89 NRL Toyota Cup Under 20's players received their Level 1 Referee accreditation. Players from the Dragons, Sharks and Bulldogs gathered at St. George Leagues Club to sit their joint preliminary referee course.

The day-long seminar was conducted by NSWRL Referees Development Officer Doug Keen along with Dragons Development Officer and local Association Secretary Rocky Musolino. Players were educated on the various aspects to refereeing from general rules right down to effective player communication.

Along in attendance was current NRL Referee Gavin Badger, along with Junior Rep Referees Kasey Campbell and James Vella to aid in the program.

Feedback from the players was very positive as they gained a knowledgable insight into the roles and duties of a referee. Attaining their Preliminary ticket enables them to referee school games and join a local Referee Association.
